Synopsis
When the Territorial Force was created in 1908The Norfolk Regiment was allocated two infantrybattalions of Territorial soldiers and was grantedthe privilege of raising one of the eleven TFCyclist Battalions.The Territorial Force was avolunteer part-time army raised specifically todefend Britain.When war broke out in August 1914 Territorialswere not obliged to serve overseas but when thecall came they answered it and fought in Gallipoliand Palestine in battles that have not only gonedown in history but have entered into legend.In the SecondWorldWar the Norfolk Territorialsanswered the call again.After weathering one ofthe coldest winters standing ready to repel Hitler'sthreatened invasion they were plummeted intofighting in the sweltering heat of Johore andSingapore. Ultimately their greatest fight was tosurvive captivity in the hands of the Japanese.This book traces the history of the NorfolkTerritorial Battalions in twoWorldWars.
