The concise two-page chapters that follow explain what happens in the different areas of the building-the personnel, the equipment, and the patients. One section presents a time line of hospital history. The many color and line drawings provide additional information. James Howe's The Hospital Book (Morrow, 1994) concentrates on the patient's experience. Like that book, Malam's title will help prepare children for a hospital stay. It will also be useful as assignment support.
