Synopsis
It is clear from the approach taken by the judiciary that the Human Rights Act 1998 will have a profound effect on the UK legal system. The series has been edited by John Wadham, solicitor, Director of Liberty and a member of the Governments Human Rights Task Force. This book provides an introduction to the Human Rights Act 1998, an overview of the principle articles of the European Convention on Human Rights and a detailed analysis of the remedies and their likely importance in the local government context. The book then deals with the impact of the Human Rights Act 1989 on various specific topics.

About the Author
The Editors: Richard Drabble QC practises in public law, planning and other local government matters. He has appeared many times before the ECJ and the Human Rights Commission. He is Chairman of the Administrative Law Bar Association and a member of the Planning and Environment Association. James Maurici, barrister, is assistant editor of Judicial review. He is also a part-time lecturer in EC law at Hertford College, Oxford. The Contributors: John Howell QC, The Rt. Hon.
