It provides a useful framework to develop further insight and understanding of the issues in relation to male sexual abuse and trauma. The primary aim of the training pack is the application as well as the acquisition of therapeutic skills. Taking a holistic approach to seeing the victim in the context of their environment, this training pack seeks to empower professionals in the engagement, management and treatment of male survivors' of sexual violence and trauma.

About the Author:
Peter Jones has an extensive background in mental health and has trained as a counsellor since graduating with a diploma in counselling in 1997. In 1999 he obtained an MA in counselling from Ripon York St John University.Peter is a recognised national leader in working with victims of sexual violence and trauma, both within the prison and mental health arenas. He has developed models of practice and pioneered work in this area both, within and outside of the prison setting over the last 10 years. It is this work that has challenged him to explore more deeply the nature of regimes and their relationship to the patient/prisoner and the healthcare worker, and their impact on health. He has published a number of articles in this field. Peter chairs and leads the Well-being in Prisons Higher Education Network, founded in 2010 in partnership with Mental Health in Higher Education. He also chairs a specialist interest group within the World Health Organization in relation to working with sexual violence and trauma within custodial settings. In 2007 Peter founded the Counselling in Prisons Network, primarily to promote best practice and develop excellence in relation to therapy within the custodial setting. In 2009, he was awarded a British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) fellowship, which recognises his distinguished contribution to counselling and psychotherapy in general, and to the development of BACP.
