Harriet Amos feels a frisson of fear as she listens to old Jethros blood-curdling description of a hanged mans face, but this is nothing compared to the fear she experiences after she buys an old map that shows her where to find buried treasure. The map belonged to Barti Ddu, the infamous Welsh pirate, and Harriet and her friend, Ben, are not the only ones on the trail of the pirates treasure. Who can be trusted and who cant? Why does Harriet feel that someone is always following and watching her? Who finds the treasure? And who gets to keep it? The twists and turns in the story will keep the reader guessing to the end. The novel is a mix of historical fact and fiction but it is written in accessible modern English, albeit perhaps a little difficult to read for the youngest in the 911 age group for which it is intended.
