Graham Howells is an experienced author illustrator who lives in Llanelli, SW Wales. Born in Belgium, his family travelled extensively when he was a child before settling in Pembrokeshire when he was 10 years old. He has illustrated many books, his lively characters catching children's imaginations everywhere.
In this beautiful book Graham Howells has combined a rich mix of elements: the ever-popular character of the Welsh wizard Merlin, the wisdom of an eminent Welsh professor, together with the authors own unique ingredients of a lively imagination and striking artistic talent to give us this directory of magical creatures which inhabit that Other World just beyond our own. He gives us detailed information about the wide variety of creatures which have roamed this land and around our shores in the past but also encourages readers to be aware of those sprites which may still live side by side with us . . . Who will not keep an eye out for a shadowy dragon, monster or giant when visiting the landmarks mentioned in this mystical book? What family household has not experienced the work of the resident creature which leaves chaos in his wake? Now the children of Wales can identify that wicked elf which is to blame for an untidy bedroom! This is a delightful gift for the festive season. Enjoy!
