Synopsis
Written by a professional curtain designer, this sketchbook is a starting point for anyone considering new curtains, whether to make themselves or to be stitched by a professional. Two-colour illustrations and accompanying notes present a huge range of style and fabric options for each type of window, from small casement to large picture windows. They also show what works best for a particular weight and style of fabric; how different trimmings can alter the appearance of a curtain and how pelmets and tiebacks can be added to basic window dressings. There are sketches of every type of classic and contemporary window dressing, as well as ideas for combining treatments, such as curtains with blinds or using up to three layers of curtains. A final section gives facts and figures on planning and measuring fabric.

About the Author
Heather Luke is a highly creative author with a proven sales record of successful soft furnishings books. She has an international reputation as an interior designer. In addition to working on commissions from clients in the UK, Europe and the USA, she runs the Calluna School of Soft Furnishings. Her acclaimed Complete Curtain making Course is published by New Holland and she is also the author of the successful Design and Make series. She lives in Taunton, Somerset.
