Written by fan and friend, James "Jimmie" Haspiel tells this tale of the real Marilyn Monroe, his "Mazzie". Illustrated with rare photographs from his own collection as well as movie stills and authentic letters, Jimmie talks of the Norma Jean behind the makeup and poise of the legendary Marilyn; her luminescent beauty, her talent, her extreme love and respect of life - a respect that he believes means that there is no way she could ever have taken her own life. Told by the fan Marilyn herself said could do real justice to her tale, the friend whoose photograph was found by her bed on 4th August 1962, the day she died - her "one and only Jimmie".

About the Author
James Haspiel is considered one of the greatest collections of Marilyn Monroe, he has an incredible collection of personal items that belonged to the Diva. He has advised authors, journalists and television documentaries regarding the life of Marilyn and the person behind the mask. This is his first book.

In 1954, 16-year-old fan Haspiel received his boldly requested kiss on the cheek from Marilyn Monroe. This began a friendly association that was to last until Monroe's untimely death. Haspiel deftly recounts his experiences tracking and photographing "Mazzie" everywhere from glamorous movie events to quiet outings with friends. Through subsequent moments shared with her in cabs, crowds, lobbies, on street corners, and the like he reverently observes the real woman behind the headlines. This is not a biography, although it does contain knowledgeable data on Monroe's life and career. Rather, it is a sensitive reminiscence from an illuminating perspective.
