In this volume, 23 Italian scholars of economics present 18 papers which are the result of their work in a research group on the theory of growth and the relation between modern growth theory and Classical growth theory, such as that formulated by Adam Smith. In part, the function of the volume is to classify various analytical approaches used to deal with certain economic problems. Half of the papers focus on in-depth methodological analysis, with attention to Keynesian and Neoclassical as well as Classical theories. The remainder of the papers consider specific problems in light of these theories, including such topics as legal barriers to entry and rent-seeking, technical change, division of labor, and the connection between growth and cycles.
