From School Library Journal

PreSchool-- Two vibrant lift-the-flap books that are sure to appeal to preschoolers. Rabbit uses his big ears and eyeglasses to help him hear and see "very well" during his walks through the countryside. The animals he finds hiding under bushes, flowers, and trees will be familiar to young readers--a duck, a bird, a fish, and a ladybug. As a clue, a small part of each creature sticks out from beneath the flap. The simple, repetitive language, "What can rabbit hear in the tree?" complements the large, childlike paintings that are heavily outlined and exceptionally vivid. The pace, text, and illustrations are just right for toddlers and will be relished at story times and at home.

From Publishers Weekly

Since Rabbit has big ears and wears glasses, it stands to reason that he can hear and see very well. Two new, witty lift-the-flap books chronicle exactly what the beguiling bunny encounters with his senses. Thick black letters spell out a question on each spread--"What can Rabbit see in the pond?"--while the illustrations provide graphic hints as to the answer found beneath the page's movable flap. Toddlers will delight in Cousins's ( Maisy Goes Swimming ) straightforward, naive paintings that depict the simplest scenes and shapes. Rabbit's expressive, bespectacled eyes and inquisitive body language help sustain a non-threatening air of suspense that will last through many readings. Ages 2-up.
