Synopsis
Reflective practice is a key element of learning and development social work courses. This book explores a range of approaches to reflective practice and will be useful while you are studying and when you subsequently move into practice learning. Through case studies and activities, the book will help you to develop an understanding of the concept of the reflective practitioner, and to learn how you can take a perspective on your own actions and experiences, thus shaping your future practice. Written in three parts, the book starts with a broad exploration of reflective practice, drawing on some of the key texts that have informed its development and some of the processes that can be adopted. It then considers aspects of the development of a reflective practitioner from a range of standpoints. Finally, the management of social work practice and inter-professional leadership are explored in the context of reflective practice.

About the Author
Christine Knott is a former Head of the School of Social Studies at the University of Chichester. She has been involved in social work and social work education for many years, including establishing the Diploma in Social Work at Chichester in 1990. Christine is now retired.
