Although the miniature ships are the most important feature of the journal, with articles explaining how individual models were researched and constructed, the other aspects of model making have not been forgotten dioramas, modeling techniques, tools, and recent events are all covered.
Each issue of the journal comes complete with a free large-scale modeler's draught with accompanying modeling notes, illustrations and specifications for a featured vessel.

About the Author
John Bowen is the author of several acclaimed titles for Conway Maritime Press, including Miniature Merchant Ships, published in 1997 (0851776590), and More Miniature Merchant Ships (0851779360). John was deputy editor of Conway's quarterly journal Model Shipwright when it was launched in 1972 and has been its editor since 1974. He contributes a plan and instructions for a miniature merchant ship to each issue. John is a member of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
