Synopsis

Kirsty Price is a nice, ordinary girl who works in a Glasgow fire station serving food and drink to the firefighters. She's also the daughter of Simon Price, an artist and tutor at the Glasgow School of Art. He is a notorious bully, whose victims include Kirsty and her brother Johnny, who is plagued with ill-health. One day, Kirsty's firefighter boyfriend Greg McFarlane phones to say he is attending a road accident and the car involved is Johnny's. Soon after Johnny's funeral, there's a knock at the door and Kirsty is shocked to see who's standing in the shadows outside...

About the Author

Margaret Thomson Davis is the author of more than 20 novels, the best known of which is The Breadmakers, first published in 1972. Still in print, it was described in the Daily Express as 'a Glaswegian Coronation Street'. Her other books include The Clydesiders Trilogy, The Tobacco Lords, A Deadly Deception and her last novel, the hugely successful Goodmans of Glassford Street.
