The Mies van der Rohe dictate that "less is more" is fully in play in British stylist Rigg's third book (following Tabletops, 2003, and Simple and Stylish Weddings, 2004). The type font is large and the instructions are basically full-color photographs augmented by no more than nine steps. Each of the 19 projects is so simple to finish that even a fifth-grader, with some supervision, can succeed. Wall art, in her conviction, should incorporate textured "objets d'nature" or already available person-made textiles, including seeds, beads, glass, Laura Ashley wallpaper, or elegant photographs. Of course, the elementary how-tos, aside from specific project directions, zero in on frames, bases, tools, and materials, such as cutting mats, hot stencils, and scissors; a few well-placed display ideas are also covered upfront.
