Papers first address theoretical issues, including the extent to which it is possible to quantify the impact of technical trade barriers. They then examine impacts of standards on trade in goods internationally and in the case of individual countries, specific impacts of sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and institutional issues such as the move to harmonization of standards in the case of the European Union and elsewhere.
