Synopsis
For Lucy Oldfield, her job as a maid is far preferable to slaving in a Yorkshire woollen mill. But, when Lord Farnley's daughter dies a shadow is cast over the future of Heaton Hall. Feeling insecure and with temptation thrown in her path, Lucy steals an expensive French doll from her mistress. On losing her job, she returns to Leeds and falls victim to the deceitful lies of an admirer and finds herself with a child to support. And then, a chance meeting with a gentleman on a train leads to an offer that appears too good to be true. About the Author
Margaret Muir emigrated from England to Australia to raise her family. After a career in diagnostic cytology she completed a writing degree and is now a full-time author. Like her previous novel published by Hale, Sea Dust, this book draws on her love of Yorkshire and in particular the moors and village around Leeds where she grew up.
