About the Author

Toby Harris is a tax consultant to families and professional firms, a member of the CIOT, STEP and formerly a solicitor in private practice. Previously Examiner for the STEP Diploma on the taxation of trusts and estates, he is now Chairman of the Estates and Trusts Committee.
Mark McLaughlin is a consultant with his own practice, Mark McLaughlin Associates Ltd, which provides tax consultancy and support services to professional firms throughout the UK. He is a Fellow of the CIOT and a member of its Succession Taxes and Capital Gains Tax and Investment Income Sub-Committees, and is a member of the All and STEP. An established author, Mark has written many books and articles on tax and related areas of law and is the Managing Editor of TaxationWeb.
Ralph Ray was a solicitor and consultant specialising in taxation. He was Vice President of STEP and recipient of a STEP Lifetime Achievement Award. A member of the CIOT, he has contributed frequently to tax and accountancy journals.
