From Booklist:
PreS-Gr. 2. Having hatched his dragon friend (The Egg, 2001) and accompanied him on a heroic mission (The Great Dragon Rescue, 2004), George rejoins his winged sidekick in a third adventure. A faraway wizard has been collecting dragon eggs to "rid the land of [the] cursed creatures," but the presence of our heroes causes one of the eggs to hatch and its adorable baby to imprint upon its would-be destroyer. Readers who haven't encountered the first book may wonder at George's unruffled demeanor when a dragon raps upon his window at book's beginning, but most will nonetheless follow the ensuing campaign with interest, drawn by the familiar fairy-tale setting and appealing, fantastical creatures. Though Robertson's workmanlike writing and occasionally muddy watercolors don't really display the depth typically required to sustain a series, it's nice to be able to offer young ones a bit of the epic-fantasy experience in a form that is far more manageable than the tomes bandied about by older kids.
