Frank and humorous, this memoir shares with us a lifetime of adventures and tells of one man's love of the countryside. Beautifully illustrated with evocative wood engravings, Urban Fox will delight the reader with its tales of a hidden world. It celebrates a way of life that few will believe possible, that of the urban poacher.

Bob Redwater was born in Manchester in 1949. His childhood was spent wandering the countryside on the city outskirts watching birds and animals in the woods and fields. It was these solitary journeys of discovery that were to provide a life-long love of the natural world. He attended Salford College of Art where he studied graphic design before moving to Edinburgh to pursue a career in advertising. Resident - Edinburgh Kathleen Lindsley has lived on the Isle of Skye for thirty years and uses her chosen medium of wood engraving to interpret the landscape and wildlife around her. She is an experienced illustrator and member of the Society of Wood Engravers. Her online gallery can be viewed at www.kathleenlindsley.co.uk

Hardcover. Condition: new. Hardcover. "Urban Fox" is a frank and humorous memoir that shares with us a lifetime of adventures and tells of one man's love of the countryside. Beautifully illustrated with evocative wood engravings, "Urban Fox" will delight the reader with its tales of a hidden world. It celebrates a way of life that few will believe possible, that of the urban poacher. The hunting, be it with dogs, ferrets, boomerangs or longbows, takes place within the city limits of Edinburgh. The enemy of the poacher is not the gamekeeper but the occasional red-faced pre-breakfast jogger gasping his way through woods, scattering the wildlife. Spanning almost forty years of hunting, Urban Fox begins with an enthusiastic young boy with a passion for egg collecting and bird watching and ends with a 'respectable' old man looking back on his hunter's life. These are memoirs tinged with a little guilt but few regrets. AUTHOR: Bob Redwater was born in Manchester in 1949.
