Charlie Underwood is the archetypal victim of bullying, and his move to yet another primary school in year 6 is supposed to be another fresh start for him. But it turns out that TJ Carver has other plans in mind for him, and the novel is full of twists and disasters as their lives intertwine. A funny and poignant story of an unlikely hero.

Review:
Little Charlie Underwood, a small bespectacled music-loving boy, enjoys composing fantasy bedtime stories for his younger brother. He also uses his creative skills to try to cope with the constant bullying that he suffers in school. In his imaginative tales he adopts the characters of various heroic figures himself, resulting in a self-confidence which gradually develops in his real life. After experiencing many challenges at the hands of the formidable T.J., with the help of a sympathetic teacher, Charlie begins to understand why his enemy behaves badly and he learns to use an unexpected strategy to disarm the troubled lad ... The author, an experienced teacher, has used his first-hand knowledge as well as lively descriptions, humour and compassion to create an enjoyable read, including imaginative and practical suggestions as to how pupils and teachers might attempt to tackle the huge problem of bullying in our schools. A thoroughly entertaining & informative book.
