Synopsis
Poetry. This is a translation of Chávez's Mexican volume from 2013, a book of poems that deals with life on the border, its dangers, its delights and its peculiarities. I'D ASK YOU TO JOIN ME... won the prestigious Aguascalientes Poetry Prize in 2013.

About the Author
Jorge Humberto Chávez was born in Ciudad Juarez, on the US/Mexican border in 1959. Since 1980, he has published eight collections of poetry in Mexico, the current volume (Te diria que fueramos al Rio Bravo a llorar pero debes saber que ya no hay rio ni llanto) being the most recent, as well as being the winner of the prestigious Aguascalientes National Poetry Prize in 2013. His work has been translated into several languages and books have appeared in English (a selected poems in the U.S.A. in 2003), French and Italian. A major career retrospective volume is due to appear from Ediciones Vaso Roto (Monterrey & Madrid). Chávez also founded the Chihuahua International Festival in Ciudad Juarez, founded and coordinated the international writers' meetings, Literature en el Bravo, and curated the International Literary Festival in San Luis Potosi.
