Jen finds an unusual solution for Queen Ella's cold feet. Queen Ella's Feet is one of a fantastic new fiction reading series for children aged 5+ that combines structured phonic progression with great artwork and fun stories. Devised with the help of an expert consultant, it is sure to enable children to achieve reading success. Specially created for use by both parents and teachers, I Love Reading Phonics is a dedicated, comprehensive reading scheme based on Synthetic Phonics and arranged in 7 progressive levels, giving plenty of practice in all the sounds of the English language. Each book includes clear information on Synthetic Phonics, a pronunciation grid and expert advice on how to get the most out of each title. Level 3 titles explore vowel diagraphs (two vowels that join to form a single sound).

About the Author:
From a background in teaching, Abigail Steel has become a respected expert in the field of Synthetic Phonics and a regular contributor to educational publications. Her successful education consultancy supports parents and teachers in the promotion of literacy skills. She is a passionate advocate of Synthetic Phonics:"Synthetic Phonics is an incredibly powerful tool, enabling huge leaps in early years' literacy. Built upon these principles, I Love Reading Phonics helps children read and spell more confidently and more efficiently. The results are amazing!" - Abigail Steel.
From Booklist:
Promising practice in the “ee” sound, this little book from the My Phonics Readers series offers a short, slight story with an element of mild humor. When Queen Ella weeps, complaining of cold feet, the king sends Jen, the maid, to fetch a sheet. Jen misunderstands him and brings a sheep instead. Amused, the queen decides to keep the sheep for her feet. An opening page of instructions for parents, titled “How to Use This Book,” points out the appended pronunciation guide. Words that cannot be correctly decoded using the standard pronunciations there appear in bold letters within the text. While the emphasis often looks a bit odd on the page, this device alerts students to “difficult words” (known as sight words) in sentences such as “I need to keep my feet warm.” With cheerful colors and rounded forms, the simple illustrations are very accessible. Libraries with a demand for phonics books may find this a useful addition to beginning reader collections. Grades K-1. --Carolyn Phelan
