This book is designed for students and programmers who wish to learn object-oriented programming using the language Ada 95. Highly accessible in its approach, the book provides a thorough introduction to both object-oriented programming and the latest Ada standard, Ada 95.
Object-Oriented Software in Ada 95 begins by providing an introduction to problem solving using an object-oriented design methodology, in addition to explaining the basic constructs in the Ada 95 language. The use of types and subtypes is encouraged at an early stage to help produce reliable software.
The book then moves on to discuss the object-oriented features of the language, using numerous examples to illustrate the ideas of encapsulation, inheritance and polymorphism. A detailed case study of the design and implementation of a program using an object-oriented design methodology is also included.
A text user interface, API, is developed to illustrate the practical use of object-oriented components in a program.
