White wrote her classic 1952 travelog on southwestern France by centering on three rivers?the Dordogne, the Lot, and the Tarn?whose geological origins, landscapes, and civilizations she describes. Busselle has followed in her footsteps and provided beautiful photographs documenting the region. He notes how well the White work holds up today and how little has changed in the sparsely populated, rarely traveled area. Busselle adds a chapter to outline tours that allow one to explore the area in a couple of weeks and gives some practical travel advice with current addresses of tourism offices.
