An inventory of weather without any relationship to seasons or other causes of changing conditions. A catchy little rhyme suggests the different types of weather using familiar images such as as hard-working bees and rain-loving ducks. Because the text is printed in quarter-inch-high print, some primary-grade readers may be attracted to the book, but conceptually it is far younger, and certainly doesn't warrant its nonfiction classification. The textured, marbled, and painted paper cutouts give a flat, posterlike, Grandma Moses look, but the colors are often muted and the dark red-orange suns in pink skies may confuse preschoolers. The beginning shows a quarter of the Earth--from penguins to giraffes--which implies an international focus, but the mobs of tiny stylized people on the rest of the pages are light skinned (except for two figures in front of the pyramids). Superficially attractive and very slight in content. --Carolyn Caywood, Virginia Beach Pub . Lib .
