Rider here gives detailed instruction for the beginner and hobby jeweler. He clearly describes tools, metals, and polishing while taking the reader step-by-step through several projects. The black-and-white illustrations, however, do nothing to make this an appealing book that catches your eye. Although this is an excellent book for a student of jewelry making, it will probably not be well suited to the average library patron interested in an introduction to the craft.
