Should you be making plans for the year 2000? Some prognosticators say don't bother. This is Hogue's second examination of Nostradamus' work, and in it he gives a somewhat brighter outlook on the coming millennium. Hogue looks not only at the "Centuries," but the "Preface to Cesar," "Epistle to Henry II" and "Presages" as well. In doing so, he comes up with some controversial interpretations of these over 400-year-old writings.

Hogue presents an informative account of the life of the "prophet." After introducing us to the seer, he describes Nostradamus's prophetic works in terms of their structure and linguistic tricks. This accompanies an exposition of a number of the major prophecies themselves. Some have, seemingly, been fulfilled, while the author gives possible interpretations of others that do not seem to have been fulfilled. Hogue's reading of his own work is adequate. He is comfortable and obviously knows the material. His voice is clear but can become a bit monotonous at times.
