Security of land tenure for the urban poor is now a major problem for developing cities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. This book presents and analyzes the main conclusions of a comparative research programme on land tenure issues. About the Author

Alain Durand-Lasserve is a research director at the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique in France, specializing in urban land management and policies in developing countries. Lauren Royston is a development planner, specializing in land and housing and integrated development planning. She is currently co-principle of Development Works, an urban development organization based in Johannesburg.
