We have arrived at a new period of our spiritual evolution--when established religions are being replaced by a spiritual life which can be led without renunciation, prescribed beliefs, or even external form. The challenge is to give form to our spiritual path through individual method and personal mythology. This book describes the spiritual journey in ten stages, from self-identity through enlightenment, sketching a unique, individual way to the Higher Self.

From the Introduction: "People are experiencing a deep longing for their true nature and to follow a spiritual path "in the world"....The spiritual path is not a literal journey but the development of a state of "being-ness"....The map is a spiritual mythology which offers acknowledgement, encouragement and support. "Swimming" out of the rational mind is necessary and even truth is changeable. Trust, curiosity, courage, and authenticity are required."
