Synopsis
The Mughal Period (c. 1500 to 1850) included the Mughul, Deccani and Rajput. Earliest works from the court of Akbar (15561605) by Persian or Hindu artists trained in the Persian miniature tradition, mainly illustrating Hindu and Islamic legends and historical narratives, with some portraits of court members. With Abu'l Hasan's drawings of St. John the Evangelist (after Durer, 1600's) and paintings of native Indian birds by Shaikh Zain udDin. Distributed by Woodstocker Books.
