Employing carefully controlled ablation procedures and faradic stimulation of the brain, Ferrier succeeded in mapping sensory and motor areas of the cortex across a wide range of species. Ferrier's work served to confirm the establishment of sensorimotor analysis as the dominant explanatory paradigm within psychology.
