Synopsis

NAS Miramar was home to the US Navy Fighter Weapons School, TOPGUN. In 1991 and 1992, military aviation photographer Dean Garner was allowed unprecedented access to TOPGUN, to produce his first book, TOPGUN Miramar. He spent two weeks living, flying and partying with TOPGUN instructors, and an additional week aboard the USS Ranger, doing cat-traps in the F/A-18 and C-2.

From the Author

This is the most fun I'd had in life with my pants on (up to that point)! Flying with the instructors at TOPGUN was a blast, and partying at the old Miramar Officer's Club just like in the movie TOP GUN was truly outta this world. I'll never be able to describe the sensations of pulling high G in high-performance aircraft all over creation. The words just do not exist.      I hope you enjoy this collection of cool images and stories about the men and women of TOPGUN.      Saluting you all!
