A humorous story in the BANG ON THE DOOR series, illustrated in full colour throughout.

This book in the Bang On The Door series features a daisy- shaped blank with two dots for eyes on a stem of a body. Brain Cell talks in riddles and rhymes: ``If a door is ajar,/Is a jar a door?,'' and ``Can a horsefly?/Or a sheep dip?'' The boldly colored, childlike scribbles of artwork give clues to the fanciful meanings, but while the pictures are aimed at the very young, the riddles have no real answers and also defy categorization as nonsense: ``Will the bread run out, when the butterflies?'' None too clever, especially when Brain Cell takes over a classroom, dons the name ``Prof,'' and bores the students to sleep. (Picture book. 6-8) -- Copyright ©1997, Kirkus Associates, LP.
