(At the end of book one (King's Dragon) we see the King's son Sanglant being imprisoned by the Ekia, due to his mother's blood he seems unable to die from a mortal weapon. However this book shows the once great leader of the King's cavalry (King's Dragons) to no better than a dog, the author shows the loss of sanity well in this book showing that the prince holds onto the memory of Liath who he has fallen for in the previous book.
