This work contains more illustrations and less text than the Luftwaffe Secret Projects series, enhancing the book's appeal to modelers and others interested in the technical details of these projects.

About the Author

Ingolf Meyer was born in 1944 in Wittenberg and studied medicine at East Berlin's Humboldt University.  He later moved to West Berlin and worked as a graphic designer.  As an artist, aviation is one of his great passions, especially the portrayal of innovative fighter designs. Meyer currently resides in Wartenburg, Germany.

 

 

Review

The author presents each aircraft in alphabetical order by manufacturer, and includes a single piece of artwork as well as a 3-view for nearly every aircraft and any related iterations. His descriptions are interesting and to the point, and provide a framework for further thought and research. Both Volume 1 and 2 should be purchased for a complete reference. I find myself going back to them quite a bit, and imagine they would be a good reference for aviation history buffs, as well as kit and RC modelers alike. The introductory sections also have some nice discussions of the intended tactics for some of the designs, like "ramming", etc. A few of the paintings have a slight skew to their perspective, but I'd imagine that painting this many representations was a monumental task, overall very well done. --By JP Seattle -

This book gives a fantastic insite into what could have been if the German high command would've had the courage they have now back then. I guess it seemed very alien to them as do some ideas now,when war is the focus & winning the aim many peoples minds are distorted by anger & being desperate to win. Thankfully not many of these marvels of engineering made it to the war zone. At least we know where the Americans got all there ideas from apart from the British,you can see so many aircraft nowadays with the same technology used on them. The book is well put together & very informative with fantastic pictures,technical drawings & information. --By Paul Kimberley
