This is a diary of the Authors outings and records the journeys themselves and the locomotives seen (mostly steam) during those journeys. There are accompanying black & white photo's that are not bad considering the equipment used. Each journey is the subject of a separate chapter. There is one particularly heartwarming story concerning a visit on a Football Special to Accrington, Lancashire. The overnight special arrived at Accrington on Saturday morning ,21/01/1959, and members of the local Supporters Club turned out to greet the visitors and had laid on breakfast for them, what a very kind gesture, hold your heads high the good people of Accrington. I was at the match, travelling as a car passenger some 15 miles and remember snow on the ground but it wasn't the football that interested me it was the pies! The pies at Peel Park were legendary. This book will invoke nostalgia and is a guide to some of the loco's you would have seen at these locations. It's good that these sort of records have been put to print. Ref FCC.
