Rough Guides proves that good things come in small packages. These entries condense useful information in a nontechnical, nonthreatening format for beginners, while never condescending to their audience. Both have a mildly British tone yet remain accessible. Especially helpful are page-numbered references to useful topics covered elsewhere in the books, a nice attempt to replicate "hyperlinking" in print. Recommended for all public libraries, though the books' dimensions (4" x 53/4") may limit appeal.
