Author: Mick Walker. It tells the story of one of Italy's premiere post-war marques. With a history steeped in aviation including the Mc72 World Speed Record holder and World War Ii fighters, Aermacchi began building motorcycles in 1950. At the 1956 Milan Show the futuristic Chimera, an ohv horizontal single with enclosed bodywork was launched. Later in the decade the Chimera was undressed to create some of Italy's best sports and racing machines, including the Ala Verde and the Ala d'Oro. In 1960 Harley Davidson bought 50 percent of Aermacchi then in 1978 the Varese factory was sold to Cagiva. A number of Aermacchi personalities have contributed to this book, giving it additional authority. About the Author:

With well over four decades of experience, Mick Walker’s motorcycling career has been comprehensive to say the least. He has ridden in most forms of motorcycle sport, and has been the British importer for several makes of exotic Italian race-bred machines. Between 1983 and 1987 he was editor of Motorcycle Enthusiast and in 1985 his first book was published. Since then he has published over ninety books covering the history and development of motorcycles from several countries. Mick has also applied his expertise as a tuner, team manager and coach, where his skills have guided many to stardom, including World Superbike Champion, James Toseland.
