Synopsis
This book provides a simple introduction to meditation practice from within the Vipassana Buddhist tradition of Thailand as well as a summary of the principal framework of Buddhist thought which underlies the practice. Known also as Insight meditation, it is probably the most accessible method for Westerners who recognise that Eastern traditions have much to teach them about inner awareness - it is a meeting ground between East and West.
The Path to Peace Within is a course for the individual to follow at home or for a group to do together. It is a short, practical guide to developing awareness and awakening the power of concentration. Detailed instructions are given for meditating while standing, walking, sitting and lying down, together with an indication of what benefits each can provide.
