Synopsis
Anthony Caro is one of the world's most respected and influential sculptors. Best known for his radical brightly painted abstract steel sculptures of the 1960s - and, more recently, for London's Millennium Footbridge, the slenderest, most graceful of steel structures, designed in partnership with architect Norman Foster and engineers Ove Arup & Partners - Caro has been a continual innovator in a career that spans over half a century.
This book, published to mark Caro's eightieth birthday, offers a complete introduction to the sculptor's life and work to date. Included are two substantial new interviews with Caro, presenting accounts of the creative process, personal recollections of other artists such as Henry Moore, David Smith and Kenneth Noland and fresh insights into his own work.

About the Author
Julius Bryant is Chief Curator at English Heritage. In 1994 he curated the exhibition of Caro’s work Trojan War, which was subsequently shown at the National Gallery, Athens, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo, and in New York.
