About the Author

Peter Davies is a freelance writer and editor. He has written extensively on health policy and management issues, for which he won a major award from the Medical Journalists Association. He was editor of Health Service Journal from 1993 to 2002, and has contributed a regular column to Guardian Unlimited. He is married with two children and lives in London.
