K-Gr. 2. This small, square book in the I Love Reading series introduces tigers to emergent readers. Colorful, double-page spreads pose a series of basic questions ("What is a tiger?" "What do tigers look like?" "Why are tigers in danger?"), which are answered using succinct text and crisp, full-color photographs. Sentence structures have been kept simple, and the vocabulary is very basic; specialized terms appear in bold type and are defined in an appended glossary. The presence of a table of contents, an index, and a bibliography makes this an ideal choice for introducing report writing, especially to students whose reading skills are still developing.
