Leo Hollis was born in London, growing up in Devon. He returned to London after University and worked in publishing as an editor at Fourth Estate and Viking, Penguin. He is the author of the acclaimed Pick Your Brains about England (2004), and is an avid walker. He is currently writing a major book about the rebuilding of London after of the Great Fire of 1666, due to be published by Weidenfeld and Nicholson in 2007.
