Synopsis
Poetry has been a lifelong passion for Sheikh Mohammed. Al Mutanabi, Al Buhtori and Abu Tammam are his favourite classical poets voices that have enriched Arabic poetry. These influences, combined with the Gulf tradition of Nabati poetry, a form dear to him, due to its social and literary significance and with its roots based in this region, have given a particular quality to the poems published in this book. Sheikh Mohammed has been able to express a mature sensitivity through this medium and a love of thought and language. His poems help us to understand better the soul of a man and the heritage of the nation.

About the Author
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, is well known as a visionary leader contributing to the country s leading role in today s global economy. He is considered the architect of modern Dubai and projects the emirate as a major financial centre and the region s business, aviation and tourism hub. He is credited with mega projects that include the three Palm islands The World, Burj Dubai, (the tallest tower in the world) and the iconic Burj Al Arab. Sheikh Mohammed has carved a name for himself in the equestrian world as a champion endurance rider. His love of horses has encouraged him to host the world s richest horse race, the Dubai World Cup, every year in Dubai. The ruling family s stables, Godolphin, are considered the finest in the world.
