Synopsis
Rudolf Steiner (1863-1925) was an inspiring teacher who founded an educational movement. He was a pioneer of a comprehensive, co-educational form of education which assisted the whole development of children from kindergarten through to the end of high school. He encouraged teachers to understand the spiritual, psychological and physical dimensions of child development. Teachers, children and parents are encouraged to create "free schools" where education for both freedom and responsibility is encouraged. Roy Wilkinson offers this compendium of Rudolf Steiner on education as a guide. It gives a short but comprehensive survey of Steiner education. For some, this should be an introduction, but for others it could be a useful source book to follow up. Roy Wilkinson has also written "Commonsense Schooling".
