Haig the painter was Earl Haig, son of Field Marshal Haig. He was held at Colditz during the war with Michael Alexander, the former owner of the book and the recipient of the included letters. Also included is a signed letter from the director of the National Scottish Gallery, Robin McClure First Edition , the book is a little faded at the head of the upper board and bumped at spine, has a mark to the upper pastedown, inscription and a few marks to the half title, text block is clean, clear and tight in its binding, book in very good condition , the dust wrapper has 4 cup marks to the upper side, corners are bumped, head edge is pulled, small closed tear to upper head at joint, fair condition , blue cloth , 29cm x 22cm Hardback SIGNED by painter ISBN: 1873830114.
