Paper Back. Condition: New. Father Sophrony distinguished in his teaching between two kinds of word -- ''that which communicates and that which offers communion. The word which informs and that which inspires.'' The truest word is (in the best sense) philokalian, beautiful and good, sprung from the mysterious relationship of God with man. Fr. Sophrony offers us these words. Gathered from weekly talks with his spiritual children, this collection may seem fragmentary, but its cloth follows an invisible thread, the gleam of which speaks to ''that fine point of the soul.'' We may or may not be able to receive them at first; they require a ready heart. But even here Fr. Sophrony instructs (first sentence, first page): ''My beloved brothers and sisters, open your hearts so that the Holy Spirit can trace in them the image of Christ. Then, little by little you will be able to have within you both joy and affliction, both death and resurrection.''. Seller Inventory # 237832
