The Epistles of Paul to Timothy and Titus have gripped my interest and imagination for many years. Not only is the content rich in doctrinal and practical discussion, so pertinent to the Christian life, but the historical, geographical and personal notices also make the letters colorful and intensly human. Furthermore, these epistles are the only part of the New Testament that deal with the church problems from an administrative rather than a theological viewpoint.

This text was originally published in 1958 then revised in 1982. To maintain this valuable text's availability, Sheffield Publishing Company reissued this revised edition.
During the Years in which I taught the course, "The Pastoral Epistles," in Grace Theological Seminary, I have seen the need of a text that will deal adequately with the problems of these letters, and yet be sufficiently readable for every Christian. References to the Greek text are, of course, basic to the study of problem passages. However, the reader limited to English can profit from the exegesis. The extremely literal translation of the epistles has been made by the writer with this twofold audience in mind.
