Dave Scovill's fascination with guns, especially single-action Colts and Winchester lever-action rifles, began while growing up in and around logging camps near Glide, Oregon. After college, Dave entered the U.S. Navy as an officer in 1968. In 1984, he began writing for Wolfe Publishing Company, becoming the editor of Rifle and Handloader magazines in the late 1980s.
