About the Author
Susan McCartney is a New York based photographer who has traveled the world to photograph nature, wildlife, people, and places for editorial, advertising, and corporate clients. The author of Travel Photography (Allworth Press), she also teaches at the School of Visual Arts, conducts workshops, and writes about photography.

Along with an overview of this specialized field are chapters on photographic equipment and materials, lighting, and other technical concerns. The text is further broken down into chapters on photographing birds, insects, and other wildlife, as well as basic landscape photography, including plants and flowers found in gardens. Written in a conversational tone, this work also deals with recommended locales for photographers, self-assignments, interviews with accomplished wildlife photographers, resources, and a particularly important section on the photographer and the environment. The result is an abundance of practical information useful for both professional and amateur photographers, and the price is very reasonable, even for a paperback. Recommended for all collections, especially in public libraries.
